Miranda Garnett - Chief Executive Officer

Miranda joined Koomarri in 2008 after an extensive career in both the private and not for profit sectors. With a firm grounding in business and finance balancing experience and commitment to social welfare reform, Miranda is leading Koomarri into the 21st century with a firm view to growing the organisation's capacity to support more people with disability to achieve independence and quality of life. A chartered accountant with qualifications in Accounting from the University of Canberra, Miranda has worked internationally and across Australia in roles which have brought her to value diversity and to the benefits which can be gained from a professional approach.

Miranda holds a Bachelor in Commerce (Acc.) from the University of Canberra, an Advanced Diploma in Accounting from CIT and is a Chartered Accountant.

Miranda is a committee member of the NDS ACT Committee and National NDS Australian Disability Enterprises Committee.

Leon Sanft – Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Leon was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer in March 2011. He joined Koomarri in December 2008 in the role of Manager, Community and Residential Services, where he was the overseer of ground breaking work to improve outcomes for people with disability through both the Gateway Suite of programmes and positive behaviour strategies.

As the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Leon is the link between the whole of Koomarri’s operations in Employment Services, Business Services, Community Services and Residential Services.

For the last 20 years Leon has worked in various roles within the New Zealand Public Service, maintaining a strong focus on human services. His background includes operational and senior management, project management and policy development. His last appointment before migrating to Australia from New Zealand was as Ministerial Advisor.

Leon graduated from Victoria University of Wellington in 2005, with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Public Policy.

Louise Gray - Manager, Compliance & Policy

Louise joined Koomarri as Manager, Compliance and Policy in August 2010. Prior to that, she worked in several roles in the Canberra community sector, including dual roles within the national peak body for disability services where she played a key role in progressing national initiatives to support disability employment. Before moving into the community sector, Louise held senior positions in the federal public service, including as Chief Finance Officer in a major government department and in the senior executive team of a central government agency.

Louise holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the Australian National University, a Graduate Certificate in Economics from Monash University and has completed accounting courses through the Canberra Institute of Technology. She has also commenced a Masters in Business Administration by correspondence with Edinburgh University.

Rachel Knight – Chief Financial Officer

Qualifications – Bachelor of Finance (Acc.), The Australian National University and Chartered Accountant, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia.

Prior to joining Koomarri, Rachel worked as a Consultant at BDO Kendalls in Canberra. This included a variety of business consulting roles covering not-for-profits. Other areas of experience include:

• Statutory Audit;
• Grant Acquittal Audits and Management;
• Tender preparation and co-ordination
• Provision of accounting support
• Preparing balanced scorecards, revenue and contract analysis
• Solicitors trust audits
• Due diligence

Rachel worked with Ernst & Young in Melbourne in external audit before commencing her role with BDO Kendalls in 2007 where she worked until joining Koomarri in July 2009 as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
