Koomarri Belconnen Re-Opening

The newly refurbished Koomarri Belconnen building was officially opened by Thérèse Rein on April 24, 2008.

The building, originally opened in 1983 by Hazel Hawke is home to three Koomarri businesses, Pack ‘N’ Post, The Cut Cloth Shop and Unitronics and employs over 60 people with a disability in full and part time work.

Thérèse Rein officially opened the building and spoke of the importance of Koomarri’s work and of her own experience working for Koomarri during her time at university. The building now called the John Mackay Building was renamed to celebrate the contribution of long standing Koomarri advocate and board member John Mackay.

The event was attended by Koomarri supported employees, clients, staff and family members as well as local politicians and Canberra business and community leaders.
