Become a Koomarri volunteer and really make a difference.

You don’t need to be an expert at anything - all you need is a little time. There are literally hundreds of ways that you could help us to ensure people with disabilities lead full and abundant lives. It’s fun and it’s very rewarding.

Here are a few suggestions of things you might be able to do to make a difference.

  • Sharing some of your time, interests and activities with a person with a disability. This could include any sort of activity like shopping, going to the movies or the footy, going for a walk or on a picnic.
  • Working in the garden with a person with a disability who lives in their own home.
  • Spending some time working alongside people with a disability who are working in one of the Koomarri businesses.

We’ll explore all ideas – big or small!

The Koomarri environment is friendly and welcoming but if you haven’t volunteered before you might like to ask a friend or colleague to join you. We’re flexible and can accommodate your availability.

Business can help too

There are many ways that business can contribute. This could be by offering work experience or employment for a person with a disability. Your business could also enhance Koomarri’s operations by sharing its expertise. For example:

  • A construction company is talking to us about organising a refit of one of Koomarri’s business services
  • Another company makes an annual commitment for one of their staff teams to provide several hours of support to a project of Koomarri’s choice. This year the team will be lending a hand with a huge mail out in one of our business services.

These are just a couple of examples and we’d love to hear from you about how your business could help.

If your involvement entails spending time directly with people with disabilities, a Koomarri worker will be on hand until all concerned feel confident with the arrangement. Training for any specific tasks or activities is provided as necessary.

Become involved

We’d love to hear from you. Please contact Rachel Knight at Koomarri on (02) 6280 6143 or rknight@koomarri.asn.au to register your interest or to share your own ideas of the contribution you could make.
